This is a limited edition reproduction of a hand made Brook Trout Gyotaku print. The original was created using traditional Japanese gyotaku techniques, with archival inks capturing the vivid colors and natural detail of this iconic freshwater trout.
A unique detail in this piece is an image of the actual spinner bait used to catch the fish, printed alongside the trout itself. This makes the artwork not only a representation of the fish, but a record of the exact catch—just as gyotaku was originally intended in Japan during the 1800s.
These fine art reprints are produced using Giclée printing technology on premium archival paper to ensure color accuracy, clarity, and longevity for generations to come. Each print is made to order, hand signed, numbered, and sealed with my Japanese Hanko (Name Stamp) as a mark of authenticity.
If you’re looking for original prints, alternate sizes, or custom requests, feel free to reach out—custom orders are welcomed on a case-by-case basis.
Gyotaku (魚拓), meaning “fish impression,” originated in Japan during the 1800s as a way for fishermen to record trophy catches. Today, it continues as a soulful art form that connects anglers with the fish they pursue and the waters they love.
