This is an original, handmade Arrow Squid Gyotaku depicting a squid in the act of attacking a Greenback. Created using acrylic ink on traditional Thai Mulberry paper, this unique print captures the intensity and motion of a rare underwater moment. The eyes of both the squid and fish are carefully hand-painted using silver and iridescent acrylics to bring them to life with a shimmer that mimics their real-world sheen.
Once printed, the piece is flattened using traditional Urauchi techniques and backed with a second layer of Thai Mulberry paper for structure and preservation.
Every original print is hand signed and stamped with my Japanese Hanko (name seal), ensuring its authenticity and one-of-a-kind status.
Gyotaku is a traditional Japanese technique developed in the 1800s to document trophy catches, and it has since evolved into a refined form of marine art. This piece celebrates that legacy while capturing the raw energy of the ocean.
