This is an original, handmade Gyotaku (魚拓) of a Hogfish, created on Thai Mulberry paper. The eyes are meticulously hand-painted with watercolor to reflect the natural beauty of this iconic reef fish.

To complement the Hogfish’s habitat, an ethically collected sea fan was included in the print, adding unique detail and coastal texture. This is a one-of-a-kind piece—not a reproduction—and is hand signed and sealed with my Japanese Hanko (name stamp) for authenticity.

The Hogfish featured in this piece was speared off the coast of Sarasota, Florida, and the sea fan was found beachcombing in Miami.

Gyotaku is a traditional Japanese method of fish printing that dates back to the 1800s. Originally used to record the size and shape of prized catches, it now lives on as a meaningful and artistic way to tell your story.
